Here in Canada, it’s Thanksgiving weekend.
Yesterday, I joined together with a friend a ThanksLiving dinner (close to 300 people attended!) that the Vancouver Island Vegan Assoc. had organized. An all plant based potluck feast with a plethora of vegan contributions honouring right relationship with animals.
A First Nations Matriarch Elder spoke about gratitude for what Nature provides, for what we have, and about the importance of sharing our gifts.
All very abundant and inspiring. Food for body & soul.
At this Harvest Season and perhaps Harvest Time of a larger cycle (considering SATURN presently in CAP), cultivating genuine gratitude for what is given, and for the results of / feedback for what we’ve put in ‘over the Spring and Summer’ is a good practice to generate contentment and inner harmony, or contemplation and awareness for how to correct our course.
In the U.S. it’s (for how much longer?) Columbus Day tomorrow Oct 8, and simultaneously since the early 1990’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day is being honoured as a counter-holiday.
Right Relationship?!
We’re in LIBRA season (since Sept 22 – Fall Equinox)!

Being in Right Relationship, starting with the Inner and Outer Feminine and Masculine, as well as Balance and Fairness are big issues for LIBRA.

Have we ever seen a Hurricane effect around all this lately!
In the thriller around the Senators’ approval of a the new U.S. Supreme Court Justice(!) candidate B. K. – who faced allegations of sexual assaults under excessive alcohol influence in his university years, and in the face of his response / demeanor at the Senate hearings.
Whether he’d be qualified for this position, given how he showed up, and whether the 1-week speedy FBI investigation (that did not hear dozens of important witnesses who were presented, nor even the victim and accused perpetrator!) was manipulated – all this evoked a storm in the U.S. / North American if not world wide consciousness as well as in our personal and collective subconscious.
Many people who had been sexually abused – perhaps also decades ago – came forward saying how painfully it all triggered their ghosts of the past which are again up for processing.
The brave victim / witness Dr. C. B.-F. also embodied astrologically VENUS retro in SCORPIO – facing old / still processing painful experiences as a woman that many resonate with – and the CHIRON Archetype which has been just recently (since Sept 25) gone over the ‘Emergence / Emergency Point’, to re-enter PISCES (yes, we need to dive into the collective consciousness to heal what’s pervasive!).
As a psychologist, the theme of the Wounded Healer seems evident in her chosen career.
Actually, both Dr. C. B.-F. (born 1966, birth date / chart unknown) and B. K. (born Feb 12, 1965) were born with CHIRON in PISCES!
Dr. C. B.-F. would have just had her CHIRON Return (round age 50) 1 – 2 years ago.
For B. K. his CHIRON is in 2017 / 18 transited by NEPTUNE (presently retro – how apt!)… the issue is spilling over, and / or being diluted… hmmmm, and excessive alcohol plays an important role.
Wouldn’t that be great (in an ideal world) if freshly sworn in ‘Wounded Healer’ Justice B. K. used his influence to balance legal reasoning with compassion?!
For the time being, my hunch is his AQ LILITH, MERCURY, VENUS, and SUN (now triggered by MARS / LILITH) present rather a detached air, his MARS in late VIR (close to URANUS / PLUTO) now widely opposed by CHIRON has shown up rather in a defensive rationalizing way of (barely) controlling explosive anger where openness and connection would be called for, and his MOON in early CAN (about to be opposed by SATURN in Dec) has also been rather expressed in personal sensitivity around being hit by karma and the challenge to be in integrity.
In the PISCES AGE paradigm that we’re evolving out of CHIRON has to do with the Victim – Perpetrator – Martyr / Saviour Triad.
All three co- / interdependent with one another, often blending / bleeding into one another (you can be simultaneously Victim and Martyr / Saviour, or even Perpetrator and Victim) and a collective ‘boundless’ toxic suffering and blame game pool. How to get out of this ‘relationship’ entanglement???
The solution doesn’t come via resisting and repressing….
This Fall / Winter season (Sept 25 – Feb 18) is the last phase of CHIRON in PI for the next 50 years(!).
- How DOES Like Heal Like?
- Can the overwhelm turn into a wave of love?
- How can the exposure of a story like this (and a domino effect of similar ones) touch and move us in a way where we really compassionately feel what ‘the other’ might feel in such situations, and let go of temptations to do harm?
- How can we let go of being intoxicated (by substances – and by media) and made unconscious and unaware?
- How does the forgiveness practice of Ho’Oponopono apply?
“I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.”
May this public ‘episode’ create a tidal wave of change!
Unsurprisingly, the call “Time’s UP” came out of the Me Too Movement which has over the last year revealed systemic sexual assault and harassment (not just) in the entertainment industry.
It started simultaneously with JUPITER entering SCO almost exactly a year ago, on 10/10/2017 – an expanding and intensifying deep transformational alchemical process where intense, extreme, painful, buried stories and feelings have come up from the ‘underground’ (SCO) to be understood, and outgrown (JUPITER), so that change for the better can happen.

The Truth sets us FREE!
In the meantime, VENUS (the ruling Planet of LIBRA where the New Moon will be) presently in SCO (since the last New Moon in VIR on 09/09) just went into the retro ‘Underworld’ on Fri Oct 5 when the U.S. thrill culminated.
With VENUS retro (until Nov 16), a transformation of the Inner Feminine occurs as we’re facing old painful / uncomfortable / repressed / in-the-closet / shamed / sexually oriented themes around attractions that need to be processed. So that we come to a new place of natural empowerment – from which we naturally engage in and cultivate right relationship.
A ‘New VENUS’ is about to be seeded in consciousness round Oct 26 (every 1 1/2 years) when VENUS and the SUN unite.
VENUS then re-enters her domain of LIBRA on Oct 31 – supporting new self love, self value, and conscious choices that are a ‘better match’, more balanced, fair, and harmonious.

The LIBRA New Moon on Oct 8
After exposing interconnected present Astro Weather and how it shows up in current societal events let’s see what the LIBRA New Moon on Oct 8 brings:
Mid-LIBRA has an AQ undertone – meaning:
Themes of balance, right relationship, fairness, and justice take on a societal dimension.
…as we have seen in a massive way in the agonizing scandal round the U.S. Supreme Court nomination over the last weeks.
The New Moon will be at 8:47 pm PDT tomorrow Oct 8, 2018.
Let’s take a look at the LIBRA New Moon chart:
So yeah, there it is – a cosmic pattern with a few sharp squares, and two ‘strange’ quincunxes between LI and PI:
- The LIBRA New Moon in square with PLUTO in CAP (exact Oct 9 / 12):
Balance, fairness, and right relationship on interpersonal and societal levels with All Our Relations comes up against old anachronistic abusive / disrespectful structures that are on their way out yet still trying to assert themselves while they ‘die hard’.
Personally, realizing how much in relationships is about control – how can this change?
Being in our natural Power Core in the midst of Change brings us into Balance.
- VENUS retro in SCO in square with MARS (next to LILITH) in AQ (exact Oct 10):
Battle of the sexes? How do we relate better to each other from / to the Inner Masculine and Feminine, rather than via conflict and sexual release?
Processing old issues round sex, emotional intimacy, deeply buried emotions is ON now, while we’re moved to be in freedom – our true nature.
- Quincunx from MERCURY late LI to CHIRON retro late PI (exact Oct 9):
Where there’s good understanding we can communicate about our vulnerabilities.
Hmm, at court this might be difficult…
- Quincunx from the New Moon in LI to NEPTUNE retro in PI (exact Oct 7 / 8):
Awkwardness while / hangover from trying to be polite and considerate while there’s this mess….
- Fixed T-Square from MERCURY on the cusp into SCO (‘Tipping Point’) – will enter SCO on Oct 9 – and URANUS on the cusp of TAU (‘Settling Point’) – their opposition will be on Oct 10 – to the North Node on the cusp from CAN to LEO (‘Welcoming / Creativity Point’):
Self Expression is welcome, even if that means we have to talk about dark / hidden / shadow stuff that might be unsettling for our ‘comfort zone’.
With all this tension – BALANCE is Key.
This morning, a wise quote from Ann Mortifee (in her book In Love with the Mystery) found me:

And may I add, Relation-ships with All Our Relations and where they can find their anchor are in need of transformation and repair.

Deep structural / systemic evolution beyond patriarchal paradigms needs to happen and is under way. E.g., disrespect for First Nations – lack of ‘meaningful consultations’ whereas the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal brought the KM pipeline to a halt.
Truth and Reconciliation indeed requires beyond slogans consistent repair and transformation.
The result of this process (not the arduous effort and time it took) can be a model for similar societal required relational changes beyond ‘cultural assumptions’.
- VENUS retro (until Nov 16) in SCO square MARS / LILITH in AQ:
The present transformation of the Inner Feminine in all of us can reach deeply and generate a new vision and inspiring direction (JUPITER goes into SAG on Nov 8)!
- The PISCES connection (quincunxes, see above) shows us:
We’re all in one boat, and intrinsically inter-webbed in the relationship of Life. What we do to a part of Nature can have domino effects.
- Speaking of First Nations, the ‘boat landings’ are almost literally symbolic for the effects of landing and first contact of the settlers with aboriginal people. Repair and restoration needed.
Where mid-LIBRA is in your chart…
…that’s the area of life where new seeds are being planted, where a conception happens (the YIN quality of the New Moon), and where you might feel called to set new intentions and take new pro-active steps (the YANG quality of the New Moon) for BALANCE.
