Now, as the daylight hours are getting obviously longer, the middle of Winter is soon reached, as well as the midpoint of AQUARIUS:
We’re celebrating Imbolc / Candlemas, and Brigid’s Day (Feb 1 & 2: day – overnight – day).
In the Gaelic / Celtic Calendar, Imbolc is one of the 4 fixed ‘Gates of Power’ of the Zodiac year!
Brigid (Sainte) of Ireland – icon by Theophilia
In many areas of the Celtic world, this was theFire Feast of Brigidthe Irish Goddess of hearth and home.
She’s the keeper of the flame, the protector of the home, and a goddess of holy wells and springs.
At Imbolc, her many aspects are being acknowledged, especially that of her role as a deity of transformation(!).
As the world awakes from the dark slumber of Winter, it is time to cast off the chill of the past, and welcome the warmth of Spring.
The Snowdrop The first gift of Spring, in the bleakness of Winter.
The Swan The swan mates for life, and represents loyalty, fidelity & faithfulness. Swan feathers are a powerful amulet.
The Flame Imbolc is a Fire Festival and fire of all kinds is associated with Brigid – the fire of creativity, the protective hearth fire, and her fire wheel – the Brigid Cross, which heralds her as a SUN Goddess.
Brigid’s Cross This is a traditional fire wheel symbol – found at the hearths of homes throughout Ireland and beyond, as a symbol of protection. A customer in the shop recounted finding a hearth in Ireland, in recent years, adorned with over 200 Brigid Crosses – 200 years in the life of a hearth and a family, overlit and protected by Brigid.
Brigid Doll A very old tradition involved the making of a Brigid doll which can be included in ceremony and / or placed in ‘Bride’s Bed’ to bring fertility & good fortune to the home.
The Serpent In Celtic mythology, Brigid was associated with an awakening hibernating serpent which emerged from its lair at Imbolc. Traditionally, serpents were associated with creativity & inspiration – the powerful Kundalini energy of the Eastern Mysteries. Paths of Earth energy were called serpent paths, and at Imbolc they’re stirred from their slumber.
Sheep Brigid’s festival is at the beginning of lambing – eat ewe’s milk cheese!
Imbolc Colours White and silver for purity, green for the fresh burst of life.”
With this year’s AQ New Moon at Imbolc(!), with lots of CAP energy ‘in the background’, it’s a wonderful time for Ceremony, inspired by the Goddess who stirs the fires of Spring in becoming:
to invite the New that’s emerging
for creating altars, and tuning into traditions & the season
for being nature-ally aligned with the Earth – rooting deeply, and growing to / with the Light of renewal!

So much has occurred and shifted since the very CAPPY NY New Moon, in the Heavens as on Earth.
Lots of strength and rock-solid solid-arity has been generated and demonstrated, in the social / societal arena as in our personal and inter-personal lives. Definitely true for me. Hopefully for you too.
Stronger and freer together, says the CAP – AQ cusp which is so activated now, through the AQ New Moon, with a big CAP ‘background’.
The AQ New Moon offers a wildly refreshing and liberating energy… like taking in new Prana and fresh AIR that connects us all…
…beyond the for many of us very ‘rocky’, dark, dense, and heavy vibes of the recent CAP season, and over the last 2 years(!) since 2020 (when SATURN / PLUTO /JUPITER coalesced in CAP!) – which also show where ‘Old Empires’ are indeed ‘expiring’ now.
Whoaaa – the AQ New Moon clearly marks the transition between Old-oh-so-Old, and Fresh-Free-New!

Close to Imbolc (02/02/2022) – Outgrowing the Winter. Inviting first signs of Spring.
On the brink of calendar months: Jan is CAP dominated – hard-core resilience / resourcefulness. Feb is AQ dominated – visionary collaboration & co-creation.
Lots of Planets in CAP: MARS, VENUS (out of retro), MERCURY (going out of retro on Feb 3), PLUTO: Shadow revelation in, ‘expiry’ & transformation of old unsustainable ‘liaisons’, and power-over based structures. While SUN / MOON / SATURN are aligned in AQ: A new commitment to Our Shared Humanity.
A retro-free phase until end of Apr starts, once MERCURY goes out of retro (Feb 3): Green light for going forward. Things can manifest much faster in the external world.
The AQ NM with SATURN (old ruler of AQ) is in square with URANUS (ruler of AQ) in TAU: Liberation from old ‘shackles’ / contracts, and into EmBodying Freedom.
JUPITER freshly in PI approaches NEPTUNE (exact alignment on Apr 12 – one of THE signatures of 2022): Huge Unification Wave.
The AQ NM marks the eve / day of the CNY of the Yang WATER TIGER (Feb 1) New element WATER, after two METAL Years 2020 / 21 – From concentrated-contracted energy to flow & abundance Powerful, fearless, unpredictable, self-determined TIGER (associated with the Western AQ!), after enduring, tenacious, hard-working, routine (if not yoke) oriented OX (associated with the Western CAP!).
Now, that’s a LOT of pointers to Old-to-New, CAP-to-AQ!
Voila – the Cosmic Map for the AQ New Moon
Exact at 9:46 pm PST on Jan 31 / 5:46 am GMT on Feb 1
Quite striking, with many unusual (very Aquarian!) alignments:
A concentrated line-up of Planets, surrounding the SUN & MOON union, all gathered between early CAP (MARS / VENUS) and end of GEM (LILITH) – within less than 180°. What a ‘lopsided’ concentration of energy on one side of the Zodiac, and ‘nothing’ in the other hemisphere (except for the SN in SCO)! This planetary pattern is called ‘Bowl’. The (virtual) point opposite the centre of the Bowl (which is in PISCES – where JUPITER & NEPTUNE align on Apr 12) is in VIRGO. A critical(!) energy that can serve(!) as a ‘handle’ to ‘pick up’ the ‘Bowl’ as a ‘Basket’.
MERCURY (ruler of VIR), now close to PLUTO (and in triple contact with it, Dec 30, Jan 29, Feb 11, during itsjourney through CAP), will be the last Planet to go out of retro, on Feb 3 – opening a retro free phase until end of April (when PLUTO goes retro). Green light for accelerated shifts and deep transformation & evolution, from a mindful, empowered place.
Double Yin-Yang energies: SUN & MOON (New Moon), and VENUS & MARS, working jointly together in Feb to mid-March, in CAP / AQ.
So, let’s see what’s in the ‘New Moon Bowl’, and how to pick it up, via VIRGO – by sorting out what’s going on, how to come into alignment, finding methods and strategies – what helps?
Starting with CAP ‘rim’ of the Bowl / Basket
MARS (since Jan 24) and VENUS (since Nov 5, freshly out of retro since Jan 29), both working now closely together, and in CAP until March 5 when they jointly(!) enter AQ. Joining of mature masculine & feminine, grandfather & grandmother, timeless laws of effective action & attraction, wisdom & compassion…
MERCURY (going out of retro on Feb 3, in CAP until Feb 14), close to PLUTO (until 2023 / 24). Shadows are being revealed where old unsustainable ‘liaisons’ and power-over structures ‘expire’ & transform. For all of us, going deeper into mental conditioning, ‘dismantling’ those old programs, revealing our own shadows, and coming back to Natural Law is helpful if not necessary.
Then, ‘further in’ in the Cosmic Bowl
The AQ New Moon with SATURN (fully in AQ since Dec 16, 2020, and until March 7, 2023) ‘ahead’ (which the MOON will pass on Feb 1, and the SUN on Feb 4). A good challenge to overcome fear / control based social separation / division, and commit to New Light & Freedom, and Freedom for New Light, in Our Shared Humanity.
Mid-AQ where the New Moon & SATURN are is double AQ: Fixed energy concentrates there, with the theme of Humanity consciously cooperating.
In the middle of the Bowl / Basket
PISCES, with JUPITER (since Dec 28, 2021 – May 10, and Oct 27 – Dec 20, 2022) and NEPTUNE (until 2026). Their epic Union – one of THE signature alignments of the Year 2022 – will be on Apr 12! The PI New Moon on March 2 will open the theme… A Big Unification Wave on all levels (personal, relational, social / societal, spiritual). “What’s to be ‘done’?”, is what VIR might ask. Not a matter of reason and method so much, rather of energy, vibration, flow, adaptation, being in flow, in synch, in love… everything is coming together that way.
The WATER Element is also initiated via the CNY of the WATER TIGER, starting with the AQ NM. Flow and abundance – pounce, smoothly.
ARIES, with CHIRON Recently out of retro, and going direct again (Dec 19 – July 19) Showing up a-New, with our Authenticity and our Medicine Rather than being ‘the only one here’, being the brave Warriors who initiate, and encourage others.
TAURUS, with URANUS (freshly out of retro / direct again, since Jan 18) and the North Node (freshly in TAU since Dec 23). They approach their conjunction (another major cosmic event of 2022) on July 27. You’re FREE.You’ve always been. But maybe NOW is the time to fully wake up to it.
All else can follow: Embodying Freedom. Anchoring the Light / Higher Frequencies. New Earth Consciousness. Planting Seeds of our Unique Gifts.
On the GEMINI ‘rim’ of the Bowl / Basket
LILITH (still in GEM until Apr 15) – ‘Wild’ Voices A ‘wild’ plethora / spectrum of themes, news, information, learning & unlearning, questions & questioning beliefs & narratives, and literally: voices. All pointing to unconditioning / re-wilding ourselves, and reaching deeper, to the (always available, yet maybe now more than ever ‘helpful’) unconditioned Self:Who’s the True You?
No Planets between CAN and SAG –all Planets concentrated from early CAP to end of GEM: Wintry-springy. Out of the cold & hard, New Life is emerging. New Light is here, to be co-created with.

KEYNOTE The ability to discover basic natural facts that allow us to plan in advance for action
Here we are no longer dealing with ascent or descent, but with Natural Laws which involve causal relationships and the passage of one natural condition into another. The barometer registers air pressure, and a change of pressure today gives some indication of what the weather will be tomorrow. In a sense this is the modern scientific equivalent of archaic prognostication through omens. Likewise, animals grow a more or less thick fur in early autumn according to whether the winter will be more or less severe. Planning for the near future is a possibility because the potential (or seed) of the future is already operating at the core of the present.
This third symbol of the sixty-third sequence tells us that it is most important to seek – by whatever means and at whatever level of consciousness – a knowledge of causal progression. In the broadest sense this implies an awareness of cyclic processes, and this includes Astrology. The Keyword is ANTICIPATION.”
Well, atmospheric Air Pressure is quite a fitting symbol for the current Zeitgeist... …as the AQ NM with SATURN (the pressure Archetype) is in fixed square (more pressure / tension) with URANUS (ruler of AQ) in TAU – reiterating their triple square in 2021 (the main signature of last year).
Social / societal pressure is definitely still and again ‘in the Air’:
The seed potential (New Moon) of ‘the future’ that’s being co-created (AQ) is already in the current reality (SATURN). AQ sees the system / whole constellation. Which allows for planning (AQ). Yet, there’s also always the ‘chaos / unpredictability / surprise factor’ (via URANUS) to ‘figure in’, and: convergences and miracles happen (PI). Good to operate on all these levels.
And hey, maybe this is THE symbol relating to ASTRO~Weather… So, I’m also inviting new approaches, methods, experimentation, and, dare I say, emBodyment of ASTRO~Weather to emerge, seeded by the New Moon on this degree.
By the way, I’m being asked quite often, and you might wonder too:
Is the AQUARIUS AGE already here? Or when does it start?
No clear-cut ‘scientifically correct’ answer for this – very Aquarian.
According to astronomical calculations, the AQ Age starts when the Spring Equinox point will move (always backwards, and very, very gradually) out of PISCES and into AQ – apparently in the year 2597 – faaaar ahead.
But for one thing, there are ‘overlaps’ in the constellations, pointing to a transition time we’re in – more ‘organic’ and ‘real life’ anyway.
And there are other indications, besides the ‘mere’ calculations.
Over the last 20 years, we’ve seen a ‘preview’ of what the AQ Age could be about:
URANUS (ruling Planet of AQ) NEPTUNE (ruling PI) were united in AQ in the late 1990’s – they have 84- / 165-year cycle, and a conjunction, let alone in AQ, is super rare. What happened then? The Internet took off, and changed our social, communicative, and work world forever. In the meantime, the Internet and social (AQ) media (PI)are omnipresent.
JUPITER & SATURN united at 1º AQ on Winter Solstice 2020. Opening an new 20-year socio-political-economic-cultural cycle – A New Era for Our Shared Humanity. Re-activated / re-affirmed by the AQ New Moon / SATURN on Jan 31 / Feb 1.
Just recently, in 2021, we’ve seen a triple-square between SATURN in AQ and URANUS, ruler of AQ, in TAU (exact Feb / June / Dec 21). Once more activated Sept – Nov 2022 (not exact but in effect for integration). The AQ New Moon conjunct SATURN, in almost exact square with URANUS (see chart), brings the theme right back, and initiates a new phase, from our Aquarian Shared Humanity, as we emBody our intrinsic, natural Freedom (URANUS in TAU). Which can create clashes (square) with SATURNian authorities, rules, regulations. It can be quite un-settling, traumatic, and disruptive, yet also ‘cuts the umbillical chord’ (URANUS)to the old matrix (SATURN), and can lead to new social / societal (AQ) structures(SATURN). On an intrinsic level, it’s the ‘clash’ between fear and freedom.
PLUTO (with its 248-year cycle) will go into AQ in 2023 / 24. There’s a big time AQ Evolution coming up. Humanity really needs to, and can cooperate & co-create much more than ever. As things get intense / extreme with PLUTO, we can also see a lot of alienation, encapsulation, loneliness, social awkwardness, and other shadow effects of the technological self-sufficiency… Endeavours of replacing humans with robots are increasing. Perhaps a massive ‘Space Age’ will break out, with settlements on other Planets, if Earth becomes uninhabitable – whoooaah! Let alone technocratic surveillance – AQ dystopia. PLUTO – in ‘Fall’ in AQ (most problematic placement in the Zodiac) can literally bring ‘the end of Humanity / Human Nature as we know it’ – unless we take our social / societal / communal / human Power back.
Blessed by the 2022 AQ New Moon, let’s co-create withthe AQ energy, be innovative (URANUS the AQ related Archetype loves that), connect with like-spirited others in integrity, and cooperate in community, for human future ON Planet Earth!

Let’s face it:
MARS (Hubble Space Telescope)
We’ve come a long way, with MARS moving (us) through SAG, since Dec 13, 2021! Hope you had a motivating and insightful time, got around, moved by Truth & Freedom, and Spirit called you to follow your Heart! And that your own SAG themes got activated in a way that sets you free.
On Jan 24, MARS the Warrior Archetype & ruling Planet of ARIES (which is activated by CHIRON these years) moved over the ‘Integrity Point’ into CAPRICORN… …where we’re called to show up with what we know and say, take a good reality check on those high-flying visions and promises, set priorities, do the work, and build what matters and lasts.
In CAP, we’re gradually and persistently ‘climb’ like the post-Winter-Solstice SUN. MARS gives us extra vigor and strength for this. Much needed in so many ways now.
When a Planet moves into a new sign we usually see shifts / events expressing the themes. Thinking of the rock-solid and hard-core wintry Canadian Trucker Convoy – now under way, as the MOON is in SAG – keep on rolling! – catching up with MARS on Sat Jan 29! Destination reached.
Once MARS in CAP is solidly established, CAP issues that have built up over the last while, since CAP season, and since the massive CAP year of 2020 (JUPITER / SATURN / PLUTO in CAP then – big time shadow revelation of power & authority) – are getting energized via MARS.
It can also easily lead to outbursts of built-up anger at authority, government, leaders, the system, and outbursts of violence.
Let’s find constructive outlets of (RE?)building from integrity.
MARS in CAP is catching up, and working in alliance with VENUS (out of retro since Jan 29). Let’s bring Timeless and Rock-Solid Love & Integrity and the Warrior in Action together. A beautiful Union & great Team.
Great boosts for transformation & evolution & (re)empowerment are available, as PLUTO, still in CAP until 2023, will be met by MARS & VENUS on March 3, the day after the PI NM – just 2 days before both co-enter AQ.
In its 2-year cycle, MARS hasn’t been in CAP since Feb / March 2020(!). Do you remember, was it a productive time for you? Of course, the circumstances have massively changed since then, and the Astro Sphere too, yet there might be parallels. And hey, what started then may well come to a conclusion (does CAP ever dig this!).
MARS in CAP is also an upgrade of the Masculine, and calls out what / who isn’t mature and in integrity. Which reminds me of David Deida’s workThe Way of the Superior Man. His book from 1997 was ground-breaking in the Men’s Movement. In an audio book presentation (excerpt here), he intriguingly addresses three levels of masculinity:
Grow for your own sake – I’d call it Personal MARS.
Share and cooperate – Interpersonal MARS.
Realize that everything is only change. Come to terms with death of everything which doesn’t stop the Superior Man from giving – he IS the giving. Feel your deepest purpose. – Transpersonal MARS.
MARS in CAP is a solid energy that holds everyone (oneself and those in leadership) accountable, AND helps us to be responsible, step up to the occasion with our cap-acities, and get the job done. Accomplishment and completion are CAP’s big motivators.
CAP keeps it real, and doesn’t like waste of Time and Energy.
Time to get going, with those long awaited Spring projects! Hey, we got the energy and motivation now (no more excuse / blame, ha-ha), plus, thankfully the days are getting longer. CAP loves working with the Seasons.
MARS is considered ‘exalted’ in CAP (top position for MARS in the Zodiac) – think: persistence, endurance, mountaineer, marathon runner, and builder… sustainable energy to reach a goal. The first Full Moon of 2022, first wintry Full Moon (next ones: Feb 16 and March 18) is in the making… She has many attributes and associations: The Wolf Moon, Old Moon, Ice Moon, and Snow Moon.
The Christmas / NY snow & ice seem to have gone (for now), here on the We(s)t Coast, and even early Snowdrops – Imbolc harbingers – have been sighted. While the daylight now noticeably increases (ahhh!) it’s still a reality that Winter is here for 2 more months (calendar wise).
The recent Tsunami wave exuding across the Pacific from the Hunga Tonga underwater volcanic eruption just 2 1/2 days before the Full Moon in CANCER – opposite SUN / PLUTO (related to volcanoes and other ‘hidden’ forces of Nature), and in Water Trine with NEPTUNE in PI showed us: We’re all connected, and Mother Nature is in charge.

In exact opposition with SUN & PLUTO end of CAP, Shecatalyzes the Expiry of the Old Empire & Transformation of the Old Regime… Revealing its power & control shadow – showing us where we can give power and authority away, and where change is happening: Light ofConsciousness (SUN) onto, and through darkness & shadow (PLUTO). Yep, blatantly clear now. What do we DO about it, is the legit CAP question…
Definitely a call for new Life, beyond what feels energetically not alive anymore.
I bet you feel it all strongly coming up now, with this Full Moon in Lunar CANCER and hard-core CAP.
We’re in a massive Birthing Process from an old era to a new one.
2020 – 2021 have been such intense and cathartic transition years. 2022 continues to be about release, to make room for re-birth, esp. given the massive PISCES wave, via JUPITER – NEPTUNE (culminating with their conjunction on Apr 12 – every 13 years, in PI the 1st time since 1856!).
Spiritually, the Full Moon axis also describes the dichotomy between Impermanence (the MOON) and Essence (SUN / PLUTO). Throughout time and change, Be at Home in the Changeless.
What does this FULL MOON evoke?
SO much is coming to Fullness, Fruition, and Harvest that is ripe for birthing, as well as release now! SO much birthing out of the Old Matrix, and into the New and Unknown World.
The Old Empire Expires, crumbles and collapses, while a new Era for our Humanity emerges.
Old narratives, propaganda, and limiting beliefs have being seen and questioned, new dialogues have emerged by now (Nodal Axis in SAG – GEM, June 5, 2020 – Dec 23, 2021, ‘sealed off’ by the last Total Solar Eclipse in SAG on Dec 3 / 4). Even though, we might be still triggered by those ‘stories’ (MARS in SAG – until Jan 24) if we fight them it’s going nowhere, except into the ‘black hole’.
The common denominators – don’t we know by now?! – are ever new variants of fear, control, power trips, and scare-city models, perpetuated by top-down structures / operating systemsof subordination and authority / power-over that have shown enough evidence of their shadow by now. Esp. since the SATURN – JUPITER – PLUTO in CAP crescendo in 2020. Once again, light is shone onto it now, via SUN – PLUTO, opposed by the Full MOON.
If we’re still giving them SO much attention (just check out what’s going on in the media… – or rather: don’t!) we’re feeding the energy of old and told, and going in co-dependent circles. We can be more empowered than that.
The ‘cure-all prescription’ for a multi-layered crisis that – in still blatant, and barely masked, top-down ‘Old Empire’ style – the WEF prescribes with catchy terms like ‘Great Reset’ (I’m sure you’ve heard about it) is merely a pseudo Aquarian ‘model’ – on the very terms of the techno-industrial complex – that Humanity hopefully doesn’t buy into, and go along with. Oh, and in the meantime, it morphed into (yep!) ‘The Great Narrative’ (seriously – look it up if you don’t believe me). Technocratic and likely dystopian AQ shadow would ensue. “Build back better” being another mantra in the govern-mental / media echo chambers of the world.
Time to catch all sorts of BS, not even resist it, rather purge it out of our system, come back to our senses, (un?)common sense, and emBody freedom, says the current (since Dec 23, 2021) Lunar Nodal Axis from SCO to TAU.
This is the 1st Full Moon in that Nodal phase (until July 13, 2023) – showing up opp. the SUN & PLUTO (Ruler of SCO). What an initiation into shedding SoLunar light at darkness, shedding & outgrowing that ‘matrix’ layer/ skin!
AQ is about distribution, contribution, and co-creation in synergy and equality (think: circle, beyond CAP hierarchy / pyramid). How do you show up in this?

What a polarity of the MOON in her natural CANCER abode, with SO much end-of-SAG – CAP – AQ – early PI gravitation on ‘the other side’ of the equation / and of the Earth!

The CAP – CAN axis is about safety and security issues. About tending to feelings and needs (CAN) while being resilient, resourceful, incl. going for less-is-more / voluntary simplicity, and showing up maturely, in authority, and with our best (CAP).
How can we create a balanced relationship between these apparently opposing orientations?
CANCER Gentleness, compassion, nurturing our own and others’ needs, family, tribe, finding belonging, going with rhythms and cycles, protecting Nature and our loved and little ones with loving care.
CAP Being mature and in integrity, accepting leadership / leading by example (not giving authority and responsibility away), working with priorities, resiliently, respectfully, using time and resources well, being the ones we’ve looked up to, and the experienced Elders.
I felt called to create a little contrast table of CANCER and CAP / AQ for you, since it’s so much up with the Full MOON. Of course there’s so much more to it, but hopefully a starter kit to tune into, and reconcile the polarities.
The two sides of the equation don’t have to be a dilemma but can synergistically cooperate and integrate.
CAP / AQ asks us to take responsibility for our part in humanity whose greedy power (PLUTO) and control / authority structures have been exploiting and abusing Mother Earth (shadow of CAP) and her human, animal, and plant Beings that need protection & care (CANCER).
To have healthy boundaries, disengage from being sucked into the shadow wherever we can, and to Be the Change, the Ones (of the more & more) who care, and the Ones we’ve been waiting for & looking up to (CAP). What matters is consistency and leading by example, rather than judging and blaming. Makes us feel better and more empowered too…
‘Just’ resisting and blaming external authority and power structures (SATURN now in AQ, and PLUTO still in CAP) is not the way forward. It still feeds their energy field by giving them attention, acknowledges them energetically, and basically responds / reacts in an adolescent manner.
How about claiming self-authority, and ‘outgrowing’ old modes, by co-building new & better, more compassionate & humane structures that take care of needs more directly and on an equal level?
Rather than let the old fossilized top-down institutionalized world turn from Plutocracy (governance of the wealthy) to Technocracy (governance of technology – based on a materialistic worldview), and combinations of both?!
Let’s not allow technology to influence / claim our biology! Says also URANUS in TAU, going direct again on Jan 18 – day after the Full Moon, after its yearly 5-month retro period, since Aug 19. Time to turn inner liberation into outer manifestation of emBodied freedom!

Well, there’s light and shadow – even in gardening, as in ego cultivation. The problem, as I see it, is primarily in the indiv. and conditioned ‘modern ego’ claiming ownership of the Earth, Her resources, and all that’s given (even our Earth body and Life). “The Earth doesn’t belong to you. Creative play & fun (CAN) beats the heavy CAP vibes of ‘no time for that’… Maybe ‘even’ shifting the conditioned CAP paradigm to: Play first, work later. Has been working great for me these days / months. I just need to remind myself more often too. Play puts me in an inspired and relaxed work mode, plus I get to see that ‘work’ and clients come to me not because I work so hard but because they love me and love what I offer, and how it affects them. And everything works so much more smoothly – and playfully – with resonance and connection.

The Full Moon & PLUTO the Transformer

For a good (RE)birthing process, we need to work with PLUTO. In the birth process, the Plutonian phase is the embryonic passage through the birth canal.
PLUTO is the main Planetary Archetype still remaining in CAP for a while (until 2023 / 24). PLUTO is now polarized by the Full MOON, and activated by the seasonal, yet multiple transits of MERCURY retro (Dec 30, Jan 28 and Feb 11), the SUN (Jan 16), and VENUS retro-to-direct (Dec 11, 25, March 3).
What a wintry vibe to tune in & transform with.
We’re invited to shift out of old linear & limiting consciousness and density (PLUTO in CAP) into freer, lighter ways of Being (AQ). I bet you feel the lift – as many of us do – since JUPITER & SATURN moved into AQ and united there.
On deep levels, the limited physical reality of our experience seems so solid (CAP) yet is an illusion / ‘matrix’ if you will.

While the MERCURY in CAP and the MERCURY in AQ articles cover the overall ‘weather’ of the current Mercurial phase (from mid-Dec to early March!), this one here is all about MERCURY Retro in the midst of it.

Some Tidbits for MERCURY Retro (M-r)Newbies
MERCURY retro is an optical illusion from Earth perspective. Of course, from the central Solar vantage point, MERCURY doesn’t ‘actually’ from time to time go backwards in the Zodiac.
However, due to its elliptic orbit around the Sun, in relation to the almost exactly circular orbit of the Earth around the Sun, from our terrestrial perspective, the ‘inner Planet’ (between Earth and Sun) MERCURY appears to alternate between going quite fast, going slow, and even ‘falling back’ when retro.
MERCURY goes retro 3 times a year / every 4 months, for about 3 weeks. The Zodiac area covered by the retro motion is 10 – 15 degrees. Because of that regularity the retro phases are in each year in the same element (combo): In 2021, it was in the AIR signs (AQ / GEM / LIBRA). In 2022 M-r occurs in AIR / EARTH signs (AQ / CAP Jan 14 – Feb 3, GEM / TAU May 10 – June 3, LI / VIR Sept 9 – Oct 2). In 2023, it will be in EARTH signs. Goes to show, the pattern of M-r phases itself goes retro in the Zodiac too.
What’s the Cosmic Weather on Earth, during MERCURY’s retro phase (Jan 14 – Feb 3)?
Lots of Cosmic Happenings that we’ll witness, think, talk, report about.
Time to be aware of themes evoked by those happenings – to find out how we relate to the ‘system’ / ‘structure’ (AQ / CAP) they show up in – the language that’s spoken in it (MERCURY) – how about: friendly, cool, respectful (or distant, detached, authoritarian) – and how that works for our core / Soul (late CAP has a VIR undertone, and PLUTO gets 2 more contacts from MERCURY).

JAN 18 URANUS goes from retro (since Aug 19, 2021) direct again Expect the unexpected. Stay awake and unattached. Effectively, all of January is a stationary URANUS month.
Even though, we’re now technically almost(!) – except (importantly) for M-r and stationary URANUS – in a retro-free time, where a lot can happen fast in the external world, the sudden moves & shifts (URANUS stationary in TAU) may not be fully thought-through / discussed / viewed systemically (MERCURY retro in AQ – ruled by URANUS, in wide square with URANUS). So: Surprise break-throughs, subject to thinking them through.
JAN 19 The SUN enters AQ Consciously towards / with the Light – together!

Sounds like the Mercurial Messenger haslots of messages from the Gods (and Humans) to convey!!!
Not a boring, or rather retreated M-r phase – esp. compliments the boost from URANUS!

Technology, traffic / transport & communication glitches (or surprises!) sneaking in again lately, and calling for flexibility?
No way! Are you telling me…..?
YEP, the ‘inevitable’ is happening again: Another MERCURY Retro phase is already ON!
From AQ to CAP this time (from 10°19′ AQ back to 24°23′ CAP, to be precise), since Jan 14 to Feb 3.
If you’ve read my MERCURY retro support REport (or even advocacy) over the years you know:
M-r isn’t necessarily ‘BAD’ news, as pop Astrology would have it. And hey – perhaps M-r is ‘even’ an overdue and cosmically well timed de-conditioning!
In a nutshell, with M-r, the Archetype of the MIND is operating differently / ‘unusually’, and tuned-up into a ‘New MERCURY’ (hey, what’s that???).
On Jan 10, MERCURY went into stationary (very slowly moving) ‘U-turn storm’.
And on Jan 14, MERCURY ‘officially’ started its seasonal retro loop which goes technically until Feb 3, and rolls out completely until end of Feb.
So, the two months of Jan & Feb (which include build-up time before and roll-out time after) are under M-r influence.
Take it easy on ‘plans‘, and don’t get wrapped up in ‘loops’ that are likely based on too much random info / confusion.
A good time to chill, go on a RE-treat, or RE-laxation (esp of the bizzy mind), and to be open to unexpected info / intel / communication that can open your mind.
M-r is conducive for
Purging outdated infoand stuff (early Spring cleaning, yay!) – and finding surprisingly re-levant things and info ‘from the past’ (or: on a meta-level, shows where we were at mentally and which choices we made, at that time)
Catching up with people we haven’t talked with in a while, and be surprised by synergistic conversations that lead to so much more than ‘expected’ (or: have glitches with them – which will be quite telling about the compatibility and relationship…)
Picking up lost & forgotten reading or writing projects we’ve been shelving for a while (AQ – CAP relates to anything social / societal, systems oriented, structural, and legal – maybe you re-explore your whole (esp. informational) invent-ory in that regard.
And a heightened time for info to leak, and communication to happen that’s usually under the radar.
Could be also a good time to check in again astrologically – which is by nature so much about macro-micro, and seeing, understanding, and observing it all from a perspective. Just get in touch if you feel it’s calling you.

Looks like this offers an opportunity for a process round themes like:
Witnessing yourself in your thinking and communication can help heal early wounds.
Taking the 1st step and‘putting yourself out there’ can be raw & vulnerable yet also invigorating and: not ‘such a big deal’ – others are doing it too, and you can connect in (new?) community!
When thinking “I’m all alone in this – just me here” re-member: You have friends / friendly people to reach out to.
New Medicine emerging – sharing freely & from lived experience, among free thinkers & like-spirits.
MERCURY meets PLUTO in CAP 3(!) times, in the pre-, during, and post-retro phase, Dec 30, Jan 28, and Feb 11, plans seem out of control – esp. if the ego-mind (t.b. adjusted during M-r) tries to be too much in charge – OR if we give too much power & control away, and have to do a reality check on the oppressive price for the convenience / conditioning of ‘being told what to do’. Going with higher / deeper / Soul Power is called for, either way.
Having these not easy (postponed / avoided?) but important conversations that have to do with facing reality.

The first half of M-r (phases 1. – 4.) is the Epimethean phase. RE-minding us of ‘old stories’ – which doesn’t have to be a ‘bad thing’ to overcome, it can be an important RE-flection / correction inducer ;-).
The second half of M-r (phases 4. – 8.) is the Promethean phase. New insights and connection with Spirit and Consciousness can more readily lead to new inspired direction – a very auspicious time.
Perhaps you’re already having inspired / important / timely conversations with friends / in groups, about AQ / CAP themes (community, friendship, society, systems, governments, law…).
Mercury Retro in the Starters
On Jan 10, MERCURY entered its stationary ‘storm’ period (moves very slowly), i.o.w., starts to go into ‘U-turn’ mode in AQ.
A time to slow down the ‘usual’ fast and busy mind that likes to multi talk / task and be ‘in control’.
‘Regular’ / ‘normal’ communication affairs might have become ‘tricky’, ‘chaotic’, ‘complicated’ and ‘messed up’, but only from the perspective of the ego that likes to seize control via the mind.
MERCURY in ‘zigzag mode’ suggests being super adaptable, in flux and at ease, while being open to new intel / info coming in, and changing course as necessary. It can lead to a more auspicious outcome than endless abstractions (low AQ vibes) – based on ‘thinking’ we got all the input – in theory.
Labyrinth – by Helen Rowlands (reminds me of a brain)
In the actual RETRO PHASE from Jan 14 – Feb 3, the mind is geared to turning inward-backward. Mental moves may be paradoxical, like in a labyrinth, or ‘far out’ / eccentric.
The MERCURY retro cyclestarts with the ‘Epimethean’ phase (first half – until Jan 23) where old epic stories, memories, and patterns show up for REasons yet unknown, t.b. REvealed in the journey.
With the AQ – CAP energy of the current M-r, it’s good to gain space & distance from the mind that goes into abstract, unrealistic, maybe idealistic theories (AQ), and explore things on a practical ground level (CAP). Does it work? Is it sustainable?
And first of all, come back to yourself, and what would bring you deep joy (VENUS retro close to PLUTO in CAP is also close to MERCURY), and works well, from common sense, experience, and knowing yourself.
Invite unexpected insights, a world of synchronicities, and: be open to a new understanding of ‘the situation’, by seeing things also from the perspective of ‘the system’ / society / humanity. Lots to learn. Perhaps you come across hidden / overlooked info that gets our attention now, for various RE-asons.
At the half-way point of the M-r phase(Jan 23), MERCURY crosses paths with the SUN: A new ‘New MERCURY’ (like a New Moon in the monthly SUN – MOON conjunction) is born – which happens 3 times a year. Time to REgenerate the mind (MERCURY), to become more conscious, follow Spirit and the Heart (SUN). It’s called the ‘Point of Enlightened Insight’, for a reason…
This one is special, since the ‘New Mercury’ is also ON the ‘Prometheus Point’ (CAP / AQ cusp)! New choices made with a sharp and clear mind. Not directed by the ego, but by serving the whole.
The second half of M-r (Jan 23 – Feb 3) is the ‘Promethean’(!) phase, where new insights & new Consciousness can be more easily carried forward in creative ways.

KEYNOTE The use of cultural & artistic processes as means to enhance personal comfort and appreciation
Coming after the preceding symbol (“A Woman entering a Convent”), this one brings us back to the material, yet aesthetic, aspect of the benefits a society can bring its members. A ‘rug’ always implied to some extent something on which a person stands or sits. It is a foundation for cultural ‘under-standing’, and as such it can have a magical or sacred meaning, as in the case of prayer rugs. The “Woman in a Convent” probably knows only the bare floor, because her goal is one of transcendence, of surrendering comfort as well as cultural patterns. But to the social elite, or even to the oriental devotee praying to his god, society offers the relative comfort of beautiful rugs so he may meet the universe, not merely in terms of the support the natural soil gives, but protected by and securely established on the mental-spiritual as well as manual achievements of those who keep the cultural symbols alive.
This is the last symbol in the fifty-ninth five-fold sequence. It shows the beautiful products of dedicated & inspired group performance at the level of tradition. It emphasizes the value of RE-LIANCE ON TRADITION.”
Very cool dynamic here – showing us how ideal-istic AQ can take us into all- too lofty places, incl. of self/mind identity. While AQ relates to ‘Super Humans’, ‘Ascended / Light Beings’ / Angels, one can be attached to that ideal (and always fall short) – we’re ‘only’ Humans – and so are others (who fall short of our expectations). Yet at the same time, on the journey to / with the Light. The Self-Re-valuation / Re-evaluation (MERCURY retro helps with such mindfulness & Self Awareness) balances the identification with the carrier of the ‘Revelation’.
End of CAP – in connection with PLUTO, is humbling, and brings us back to our Shadow, back onto the ‘carpet’ (there’s even a German saying: “Immer auf dem Teppich bleiben” = stay grounded in reality). Which doesn’t have to mean “Back to the ‘3-D Matrix’!” but in fact an integration of ‘Being in the World but not of the World’. And yes, also acknowledging, we appreciate (and deserve!) creature comfort, as provided by tradition, ‘group performance’ / collaboration (CAP / AQ cusp) and other factors that constitute tradition.
Timeless and Timely MERCURY Retro REminders
Under M-r, ‘usual’ thinking and communication patterns are being questioned, and it appears at times as if there was a trickster / little devil at play.
Actually, we have a chance now to see the inner mental trickster / saboteur that’s been there all along, camouflaging & going unnoticed. Can you take ‘weird’ scenarios as opportunities to come back into common sense (AQ to CAP)?
The challenge is not to get frustrated when things don’t turn out the way YOU thought they ’should’, according to the ego.
During M-r, experiment with, practice, and hopefully also integrate for later going with the flow of things in an intuitive, heart sourced way.
Be open to and curious about ‘creative detours’ that might lead to unexpected turns, and unusual connections, dances and negotiations (LIBRA), rather than going with comfort, routine, and habit of your ‘Inner Muggle’.
Rather than getting wrapped up with linear, habitual, polarizing, and often self-limiting ways of dealing with information and communication channels and modes, an ‘unorthodox’, creative, out-of-the-box approach can open us up for serendipity, synchronicities, and magic.
Let’s mischievously ask ourselves (M-r):
How can I get out of the busy conditioned & controller mind now, and shift to Openness for Change, Creativity, and Play?
What does my Inner Magician / Wizard (yes, MERCURY is also an Alchemist) suggest?

Let’s stay as mobile (like quicksilver, the MERCURY metal), adept & adaptable, and unattached to ‘plans’ / agenda as possible.
MERCURY is a very light, youthful, fresh, fun-loving punster and Coyote / prankster energy. It looks at the fun and also meaningful side of unusual twists and turns, and even likes to facilitate those. Aligning with that mode makes us happier and more at ease – not only – these days.
Come on board with these spontaneous twists, unintentional new-found puns, and creative fun realizations! While being mindfully present and clear.
Laughing at ourselves is certainly part of the picture.
And noticing how the mind is playing tricks on us – all the time, but now hopefully more often busted – even / esp. in comic relief ways – ego alert, ha-ha! Great time for satire and comedy it is – and ‘real life s & c’!
When it comes to committing to something long-term – pls consider that it might not be ready to be definite yet.
Yet you can make a choice to be in a vibration that attracts the match that you easily recognize and connect with.
Give yourself time. During M-r, new information streams in, which can alter our outlook on things. Often, after the M-r phase we have more information which gives a different picture, based upon which a good avenue forward becomes clear. If we did commit prematurely and aren’t flexible to back off again easily, we might say, “Oh, if I only had known… I wouldn’t have changed course… and didn’t have to untangle complications.”
As always with MERCURY retro, clarify communication whenever possible
Say things several times,in different ways / even in a different language to make sure there’s no misunderstanding in a fast / distracted context – in our oh-so ADD world.
Talk in a way that offers invitations for open discussion, and be present and genuinely curious (if you are!), rather than distracted.
Ask questionsthat instinctively / intuitively come up (esp. to clarify otherwise held assumptions!).
Choose the most direct medium / tools available (meet & connect in person, at least via online video, rather than phone, email / messaging), which helps with a clearer and more holistic communication, mimic, body signals. More ‘channels’ are involved and signals are conveyed by being face-to-face with the other person rather than on the phone, or via mutual messaging / e-monologue – so ‘standardized’ & ‘normalized’ in the electronic age and a big deal in 2021. M-r gives us the chance to take a break from it – at least make sure we SEE each other! And who knows what else might come up and be addressed when you take the opportunity to actually meet and talk?!
If you become mercurially frustrated, maybe it’s because you needed to learn something about the nature of the human mind and its extensions as in: technological equipment which now, more than usually, seem to have ‘a mind of their own’…
You don’t want to become (well, maybe now you see how much you could be) a stressed-out remotely controlled slave of coordination and communication.
Computers, phones, and tech gadgets are ‘just’ tools. Yet, their efficiency also depends on and responds to the (hopefully relaxed and detached, savvy and inventive) mind of their ‘master’. Have you noticed? The technical equipment can magically-morphically mirror the state of mind WE’re in, even ‘simply’ by breaking down and being ‘on strike’ when we humans need ‘a break’ anyway.
Give your tools and tasks proper mindful and focused care & attention. One at a time, instead of attempting to multi task and ‘efficiently’ orchestrate everything simultaneously.
To keep the interface between the electromagnetic field of computers & the human mind smoothly operational, don’t impose any potential extra stress onto your nervous system – nor on your computer.
And how about: Turn the AI network off, and your inner intelligence on.
Take note and respect signals from your tools showing you that you need to be relaxed and mindful. Assume nothing, and drop your (under M-r evident, otherwise under the radar) expectations and assumptions.
Foremost, trust the infinite Intelligence of the Bigger System aka Universe, ‘even’ as it might take you on wild and ‘crazy’ spaced-out journeys that you apparently haven’t signed up for.
Under M-r, talk to people from the past who come to mind and whom you haven’t heard from in a long time. And to ‘new’ yet familiar like-spirited people whom you’ve just met and intuitively ‘clicked with’. M-r also tends to bring back unfinished communication business from the past, esp. from previous M-r phases (last one in Sept / Oct 2021).
What also happens quite often under M-r
We receive / intuit a potentially interesting message for others that’s worth sharing and passing on – to whom it may concern. Go ahead and ‘randomly’ deliver / spread it to others who need to hear that information and inspiration (without your personal agenda).
We’re prompted to connect two or more people with one another – because we can. Who knows what comes from it?
So, keep collecting M-r communication karma cookies, by being the random messenger & connector!

Rather than having the mind ueber full… be mindful. Observe the ‘phenomenon mind’ from a deeper level.
Like, by asking yourself: Why am I really saying this? Who’s the one thinking and talking here?
So important to check what we’ve been doing with our brain – or rather, what the brain has been doing with us all along.
The Buddhists call the day-to-day mind that busies itself with all kinds of ‘chatting’ and inner stories, lists, and dialogues the ‘Monkey Mind’.
Like a monkey, the trickster mind jumps from one tree of interest and attachment to the next, and is never quiet, unless we observe the movement, and thereby naturally calm it.
My Seasoned MERCURY Retro Tips & Seasonal Tool Kit
The Thinker – by A. Rodin
1) Be easy on yourself, as you get into the groove of things
It usually takes a week or so to adjust to the different mode. Hope you’ve been taken it it easy on the pre-retro shadow phase (since Dec 30), rather than being ‘pulled into’ the wild ‘storm’ (from Jan 10 on), or apparently stationary stuckness (can be either and both, in paradoxical trickster fashion).
2) Be mindful, and lead from what’s here-now
There’s a tendency for the mind to be distracted and all over the place, to loose and misplace things and thoughts that later have to be RE-trieved again in your ‘inner house’. Avoid getting scattered and disorganized, collect the mind ‘pieces’, be present with any situation and function ‘at hand’, and don’t loose sight of what practically works and matters. The apparent priority of urgent ‘little’ things and ‘small stuff’ can easily be a distraction and waste of energy. Practice coming back to the Here-NOW Presence.
3) Retro is an inwards / backwards oriented energy
M-r is a good time to RE-treat, and RE-connect with meditation and mindfulness. Leading to Equanimity (LIBRA). Also an excellent chance (if not necessity) to deal with ‘old unfinished business’, ‘loose ends’, and to clear communication themes from the past, often carried over from a previous M-r times (last one Sept / Oct 2021).
4) Every M-r phase is a great time for basically everything that starts with ‘RE-‘, esp. RE-sidual communication
Like: RE-assess, RE-align, REad, Re-search, RE-treat, RE-pair, RE-boot, RE-group, RE-consider, RE-arrange, RE-place, you name it… One RE-ason for me pointing out all these RE-activities: During M-r (which also has a karmic undertone), we / they less likely get away anymore with being sloppy, and with procrastinating or neglecting RE-sidual communication issues with people from the past. They come up like a mirror. Talk about what RE-ally matters, esp. with friends and loved ones.
5) Choose the clearest and most direct mode of communication available
Phone rather than messaging / emailing. Meet and connect in person rather than via phone / text, to make sure an actual dialogue happens (rather than just your factual monologue, with the assumption you know what they think, or they know what you think). Consider communicating in several ways and via different media, to make sure the message comes across. Keep in mind that because people’s minds can be all over the place now. Communication might be scattered and incomplete, or prone to assumptions: “I thought you got my email!!!”, or actually a monologue: “Are you just thinking out loud as you talk, or are you actually suggesting something to me?”
6) Be mindful & compassionate in your communication with others
Compassionately put yourself in their position, and take ownership and responsibility for your mental processes, rather than blaming and judging (possibly based on a lack / deficiency / incompleteness of communication).
7) Be clear and precise with commitments and agreements
Double-check whether you’ve been understood correctly, and RE-peat / RE-phrase back to them too. Avoid signing an agreement with consequences before you have all the necessary information (often only after MERCURY retro is over, or at least half-way, meeting the SUN = Jan 23).
8) MERCURY Retro RE-minds us…
…that direct connection with one another as an authentic and lively dialogue offers the opportunity to open up, speak freely, and touch on other subjects than the originally intended purpose / agenda of the communication. Which can eventually lead to an even more important outcome or direction than anticipated. Check out in hindsight why you actually needed to talk to that person…
9) Under M-r, the odds for fabulous unexpected synchronicities are 99%
When we act more intuitively & out of the ordinary, we let spontaneous interventions of the Universe show us our interconnectedness! So magical!
10) M-r is a good time to RE-connect with people you have lost sight of, or have ‘communication karma’ with – and see them in a new light
With the AQ – CAP flavour, get in touch again with friends, community, elders (and old friends), ‘even’ authority figures. Trust your intuition, and let yourself be surprised by what shows up when you speak to them – also re: whether you are (still? again?) on a wavelength or not. No assumptions… Allow yourself to get mentally un-stuck in conversation. Old communication themes might get triggered. Yet now’s the chance to see them in context (e.g. of your & their role in the relationship – of hierarchy or on the same level?). Or you might meet new people whom you connect with from your heart, and feel you already know each other ‘from somewhere’.
11) The areas of life (partners, children, career, groups, etc.) that THIS retro phase brings up for YOU… …have to do with the Planet/s and House/s that M-r activates in YOUR personal birth chart, in other words where CAP & AQ are situated (see above). I’m happy to check that out with you – as a quick hint, or in a focused (or longer) session if more is going on for you…
12) When ‘glitches’ occur, be fluid and flexible like quicksilver (MERCURY’s metal), think “shift happens”
No need to judge (CAP) or alienate (AQ) yourself or ‘them’. Turn the paradigm around: What could be the opportunity in this mishap? What’s ‘even’ actually funny about this? RE-frame your way of thinking about things. Entertain the possibility that you might have subconsciously ‘arranged’ a wild alternative to the original ‘plan A’ which might lead to something new, better and more fun than what the ‘normal’, ‘usual’, ‘regular’, and apparently most ‘efficient’ mind-in-rut-mode could have come up with?
13) Enjoy those unintentional puns, slips, and new connections in the mind, be creative and brainstorm – esp. together with your MERCURY Retro Friends.
14) Enlightened Insights, anyone…?
The Day of Enlightened Insight – when M-r meets the SUN on the exact half-way point of the M-r phase is in this M-r phase on Jan 23 – on the early AQ ‘Prometheus cusp’.

More AQUARIAN Times Ahead…
While we’re presently (Jan / Feb) in a big CAP-to-AQ shift season, and CAP-to-AQ YEARS of 2020 – 2023!
The SUN enters AQ seasonally on Jan 19 (until Feb 18). Eventually, VENUS (March 5 – Apr 5), and MARS (March 5 – Apr 14) will go through AQ too, starting out in their 1º AQ union on March 5!
MERCURY is leading on – in AQ for a long time – 6 weeks! Broken up into 2 phases, Jan 1 – 25, and Feb 14 – March 9. Why? Because it goes retro from early AQ, back to CAP (Jan 25) where it meets PLUTO 2 more times (Jan 28 & Feb 11), turns direct (Feb 3) and then fully into and through AQ (Feb 14 – March 9).
MERCURY retro – partially in AQ – is quite ‘interesting’, as MERCURY is exalted in AQ (its most favourable energy), prone toexperimentation, innovation, out of the box, agnostic, unorthodox, free-spirited, independent thinking… and liberation from conditioned collective mental constructs.
URANUS, the ruler of AQ, currently (2019 – 2027) in TAU (where it’s ‘least favoured’ – stability & nature / biology get disrupted by technology and other factors of rather human made systems) turns simultaneously from retro to direct on Jan 18!
Both MERCURY – well positioned in AQ – and URANUS are now in turnaround ‘storm’, and hence ‘running the show’ in January, esp. NOW, between Jan 10 and 25.
Expect unexpected shifts and turns, yet also liberating paradigm shifts!

The SUN in AQ (Jan 19 – Feb 18)
The AQ New Moon with SATURN, on Jan 31 / Feb 1 – initiating the CNY of the Yang Water Tiger (the Chinese Tiger is also associated to AQ in the ‘Western Zodiac’)
SATURN in AQ (since Dec 17, 2020, until March 7, 2023)
AQ is a welcome and uplifting energy, as the most solid & rocky Earth energy of CAP turns into Aquarian AIR or shall we say: Ether! We ‘just’ need to keep an eye on SATURN – which can (to understate – has it ever!) give AQ a hard time aka testing time.
Seasonally, towards end of January the light gets noticeably stronger in the Northern Hemisphere – ahhh! Yet there’s sooo much more to AQ, in the Zeitgeist and shift of Eras, esp. since 2020!
What a year 2020 it was! With astrologically SO much concentrated EARTH energy – gravitating to the heavy duty conglomerate of SATURN – JUPITER – PLUTO in CAP, and taking us to the full-ON density of the ‘Old Empire Matrix’, call it collective conditioning, hierarchies, authority & power structures…, with the power of F.E.A.R. big time in the matrix mix!
What a year also 2021 was! With a very AQ tone to it: Both SATURN & JUPITER in AQ, while SATURN & URANUS (ruler of AQ) clashed in triple-square (Feb, June, and Dec) – big societal conflicts. The process still needs to be integrated – the alignment comes up once more this year, not exact but in a longer phase (Sept – Nov 2022).
2022 is much more PISCEan (JUPITER in PI meets NEPTUNE, exact on Apr 12), while AQ is also very active – perhaps another indicator of our transition from the PISCES to the AQ Age.
We’re inevitably shifting from the predominance of Old Empires (CAP) and Religions / Mass / Collectivist Movements (PI) to a New Era for Our Humanity (AQ) – which isn’t necessarily all-Utopia, and can be very dystopian too (heed the shadow, says SATURN, at its very onset!)!

MERCURY in AQ – a LOT can be seen in Society / Systems
Humanity has been stuff-ocating itself and Mother Earth. Based on / invested & involved in apparently unmoving, ‘rock-solid’ structures & systems with individuals conditioned to (quite literally) buy into them, and be dependent on them for sustaining themselves.
Such a birthing process for us humans now – to come out of the old societal matrix (which literally means: womb), while transforming our inner contracts, chords, and layers of allegiances to it, based on traditions, the promise of security, stability, identity, status, yet often contrasted by fear (all SATURN phenomena – and SATURN is in the birthing process – also associated with the pain of labour).
SO: What’s beyond the heavy-old Status Quo? What’s with Fear of Freedom from the Norm and the Known?
SATURN now in AQ offers a curriculum to complete outdated contracts with perpetuated programs of humanity, and re-gain our intrinsic authority.
JUPITER beyond AQ, and now in PIhelps us SEE what’s possible when we not just co-create & collaborate in group spirit (AQ) but unify beyond what seems to separate us. While AQ shows the whole spectrum of dystopia (esp. technocratic systems etc) to utopia (true collaboration and synergy in freedom), in PI it all comes together at-one.
Systemic & Independent Thinking is in the Zeitgeist now
…with MERCURY having crossed the ‘Prometheus Point’ cusp from CAP to AQ at New Year’s, coming close to yet not quite touching the Rings of SATURN when it went retro today. The SUN (Jan 19) and VENUS & MARS (March 5) will follow into lofty heights of AQ. And the AQ protagonist URANUS now in TAU is in ‘U-turn’ from retro (since Aug 19) to direct (Jan 18)!
We can see human nature (AQ) better, and appreciate our shared humanity.
While friends may seem to disconnected or estranged ‘random strangers’ can show up with friendliness.
We contribute, share, and distribute liberating, out-of-the-box alternatives, envision and experiment with new synergies, and community collaboration beyond hierarchies.
We can see the mental matrix / constructs of the status quo from a detached, witnessing perspective.
We’re invited to witness the thinking itself with its traps and attachments, and be in mindful & magical spaces – supported by MERCURY retro!
MERCURY in fixed AQ can get quite attached to ideas & ideals that others / most people aren’t able to hear (yet) (“why is nobody getting it???!”), which can be sadly quite isolating and ‘outsider-ing’ for AQ. Hence the notion to find their like- and light-spirited peers.
With MERCURY retro (Jan 14 – Feb 3), it’s time to watch the mind, where these patterns come from (earlier experiences in life?), what we‘ve internalized and ‘recorded’ into a pattern – which we can break free from.
And tap into the Magic beyond words and thoughts.
MERCURY in AQ, esp. in retro, reveals group think, esp. (easily) imprinted by technology and its mentally-addictive effects. But hey, AQ is about connectivity in freedom! And it informs us about the negative mentally-hijacking effects of electromagnetic frequencies on the mind (like being mentally scattered, in ADD mode, addicted, divisive, frazzled, overwhelmed).
So important to get more distance (AQ) from the web / device, and experiment with the effects of being in Nature and other tech-free & Joy inducing activities. Notice how they actually ‘recharge’ you – while over-saturation with technology can be so toxic & draining. MERCURY and the AQ Team help us see how we get pulled into tech / pseudo social and group think patterns, what’s a healthy contrast, and what would be the ‘true blue AQ’ experience. Experimentation – witnessing – breakthroughs – freedom!

On this cusp, we might have ‘done the work’ / accomplished our purpose (if that’s ever possible), and feel FREE. Or – even better, there’s no condition for living in Freedom.
Mythological Prometheus (associated with Uranus) climbed up Mount Olympus, seat of the gods / the elite, to bring the fire of illumination to humanity – a ‘rebellious’ act for which he was punished by the gods. An encounter with Wounded Healer Chiron who acknowledged for everyone to have access to ‘the Fire’ set Prometheus free.

By the way, I’m being asked quite often – esp. since the JUPITER – SATURN conjunction at 1° AQ at Winter Solstice 2020, and you might wonder too:
Is this the Start of the AQUARIUS Age?
Or – when does it start?
No clear-cut ‘correct’ answer for this. Yes, according to astronomical calculations the AQ Age starts when the Spring Equinox point will move (always backwards, and very, very gradually) out of PISCES and into AQ – apparently in the year 2597 – faaaar ahead.
But for one thing, there are ‘overlaps’ in the constellations. And there are other indications, besides the ‘mere’ calculations.
Over the last 25 years, we’ve seen a ‘preview’ astrologically, of what the AQ Age could be about, and between 2020 – 2024 we see some more indicators for Aquarian shifts:
URANUS and NEPTUNE were united in AQ in the late 1990’s – they have 84- and 165-year cycle, and a conjunction in AQ is super rare. What happened then? Personal computers became accessible for everyone; the Internet took off, and changed our social, communicative, and work world forever. In the meantime, the Internet and with it social media (an AQ-PI phenomenon, initiated round the time when URANUS moved from AQ to PI in 2003) are omnipresent, in any area of life!
PLUTO (in its 248-year cycle) will go into AQ in 2023 / 24. There’s a big time AQ Evolution coming up. Humanity can, and has to cooperate much more than ever. Things tend to get intense & extreme with PLUTO – and we can already see a lot of AQ shadows of alienation and encapsulation, social isolation, and other side effects of technological self-sufficiency / technocracy. Endeavours of replacing humans with robots, and of implanting ‘bio technology’ increase. Perhaps a massive ‘Space Age’ will break out, with settlements on other Planets, if Earth becomes uninhabitable – whoooaah! AQ isn’t just all great & utopian, as in: unicorns and rainbows, harmony and understanding… There’s a massive shadow taking over if we allow technology & technocracy to dominate – Humans!
Let’s already work well with the AQ energy, be innovative (URANUS / Prometheus, the AQ related Planetary Archetype loves that), connect with like-spirited others in high-level integrity, and cooperate in community.

What a difference a New MOON and an New YEAR makes!
May polarities and divisions be overcome, and may it all come 2-gether, in the multiple-2 year, initiated by the Jan 2 New Moon, in rock-solid CAPRICORN.

As below on Earth so above / around / in us: Just look at this Super CAPPY Concentration for tomorrow’s New Year’s New Moon (see chart below) – and I’m confident you feel it already!
In fact, the top CAP concentration of 2022 is TODAY, New Year’s Day, after the MOON enters CAP, at 3:02 pm PST, and before MERCURY leaves CAP, and enters AQ at 11:10 pm PST. This afternoon / eve features: MOON, SUN, VENUS retro (until Jan 24), PLUTO, and MERCURY, all in the sign of the Rock-Solid Mountain Goat. Time to be the Grown-ups, and the Ones we’ve been looking up to.
The New Moon marks the ‘real’ New Year, and is the first NM after Winter Solstice! May Light Return, as we persistently move onward-upward, and drop what’s old and heavy, knowing the Essence is always with us & in us!
This is to another CAP New Moon activating PLUTO in CAP (like every year since 2009, esp. last year on Jan 12 / 13! And two more to come 2023 & 24)! PLUTO’s motto has been a reference in so many ways, esp. for the massively CAP fraught 2020: It gets intense & extreme, and takes us to the core of what needs change / where the change is happening. A big shadow revelation / purge / ‘detox’.

The key CAP Astro motto in2019 (with the Nodal Axis in CAP – CANCER, and SATURN & PLUTO in CAP connecting with the South Node) was: “Let the Old Empire Expire”.
The key CAP theme in2020 (with massive SATURN – JUPITER – PLUTO predominance): “The Old Empire Expires”.
The key CAP theme in 2022 (with PLUTO still in CAP, and a wave going to PI, via JUPITER / NEPTUNE – exact on Apr 12): “Release and Transcend what’s dense & heavy, and already has expired. Open up to a higher & lighter vibration. Connect, receive.” More about the latter, in specific articles for JUPITER in PI (to come in the next days) and JUPITER – NEPTUNE (in April).
What a difference a MOON makes.
Even’ just in the lunar cycle, since the last New Moon! The Total Solar Eclipse(!) in mid-SAG on Dec 3 / 4 marked The End of Old Beliefs. Finding Light & Trust Within.There’s been tons of shifts since then, supported by the Winter SoUlstice energy – Light Returning!
The Lunar Nodes also just shifted signs right after the Solstice, into SCO (SN) – TAU (NN): Big Time Purge. Back to Nature & to our Senses. EmBodying Freedom. SCO is ruled by PLUTO – Yes to purge of what’s sticky and we don’t need to carry anymore. No to being sucked back into ‘rabbit holes’ and dark places that defeat / overpower our Soul Purpose (PLUTO in CAP). Coming back to integrity, time sovereignty, and steady, sustaining upward moving energy helps with the process.

Seems like TIME has a ‘life of its own’ – the Winter Solstice 2021 was only 11 days ago – seems like ages – for you too?
Somehow, a sigh of relief, to step into ‘the ordinary’ and into more simplicity again.
And to realize in CAP what the Celebrations round Winter Solstice (I truly hope you could honour them, ‘even’ in 2021!) are all about:
The sacred time of year that marks the Return of the Light, reflected in us.
The CAP SUN is now in our Northern Hemisphere from Earth perspective ‘climbing’ again in the Ecliptic (slightly ‘higher’ every day). Daylight is gradually increasing, daily a minute or so for now, in the cold of Winter, and eventually, from Feb on exponentially more.
CAP energy is fueled by the spirit of gradual, grounded, consistent improvement, building and ‘climbing’, persevering, being resilient & resourceful, prepared & equipped to make it, on the ‘way up’.
How do you relate to that intrinsic quality of ‘when the going gets tough the tough get going’? Esp. in 2021 / 22…
Or is that another myth of glory-through-hardship?
CAP in transition to AQ says: You can only go so far by yourself. Teamwork, mutual support and community building is where it’s at – NOW.
Re-CAP 2020 – 2022
SO much has obviously transformed, andhas been evolving, in the last 2 years, since the ‘Ring of Fire’ Solar Eclipse in CAP on Boxing Day 2019, followed by the epic SATURN – PLUTO conjunction in CAP on Jan 12, 2020(they align every 37-38 years but not in CAP since 1518!), and since the full-on JUPITER – SATURN – PLUTO in CAP year 2020!
Since the upcoming CAP New Moon on Jan 2 connects with the energy two years ago, here’s again the chart of the SATURN – PLUTO alignment (and SUN / MERCURY, a veritable CAP concentration) from Jan 12, 2020.
NO Planets were retro at the time, and the SUN / MERCURY / SATURN / PLUTO conglomeration was unaspected / stood in full ‘uninfluenced’ power by itself, followed by JUPITER and the South Node also in CAP.
The structural change, the evidence of shadow, and inevitable transformation started then.
An unraveling of the ‘Old Empire’ / matrix / pyramid / hierarchy / patriarchy / exploitative ‘business models’ / oppressive institutions / the ‘draconian monster’ that has a life of its own, fed by authorities & powers that-be (not much longer), on and behind the throne. However you may experience or call it. We’re speaking of the same ‘thing’ – a phenomenon that has grown and established itself, and shows up in so many ways nowadays.
What a cathartic process has unfolded ‘even’ since early 2020! Yes, it takes its time, since ‘The Empire’ seemed to be ‘written in stone’ / considered solid and permanent (CAP), and most of us humans have been in multiple ways involved with / dependent on ‘the system’. Knowing where ‘your place / position’ is in the hierarchy – and how to climb.
What are these contracts (SATURN), what’s behind it all (PLUTO), and who benefits? What’s your own ‘pay-off’ for being in the system?
What are our rights (SATURN)? How have they been transformed (PLUTO), and what does the constitution say (SATURN) – in essence (PLUTO)? Yes, constitutional legal challenges have been filed – yet things take their time (CAP). Do you need to claim them ‘through the institutions’, or can you be in a simpler, more effective way (CAP) in integrity to carry on with your life?
The U.S. who come up to their PLUTO Return – 1st in history since 1776 – in 2022 / 23. Planning to write an article for this major development – stay tuned.
The exercise (SATURN) has been to strengthen and stand in our authority & responsibility, have healthy boundaries, not feed the (horizontally or vertically divisive) ‘monster’ by giving it undue energy (via fear or judgment – SATURN – or via fascination / obsession – PLUTO), to be in our power – or regain it by processing what’s old & outlived, and returning to integrity.
Two other Cosmic Key Factors came into the picture, two years ago
In Jan 2020, CHIRON was freshly fully in ARIES (2019 – 2027), and URANUS freshly fully in TAU (2019 – 2026). Both in combination have been initiating:
A medical precedent (CHIRON in ARIES). The established (CAP) medical-pharma structure is a wounded ‘war medicine’ industry, and as such needs healing. What’s the newly emerging Medicine? So many battles for survival / emergencies / alerts (ARIES) have happened in the last 2 years – all very upsetting, and triggering primal responses. And so many conflicts and battles over medical autonomy. Finding our inner Medicine of being our authentic selves (CHIRON in ARIES) in all this has been challenging – which comes with ARIES. Showing up for and as ourselves in every moment is the emerging healing we can tap into, one day / step at a time, into the New World.
With URANUS in TAU (in ‘Fall’ there – challenging combo), there’s been massive disruption of stability, comfort, consistency, enjoyment, of businesses and the economy esp. food related, of peace & calm – of Nature / the Earth, and of our bodily senses. Early TAU where URANUS has been since 2019 – and just comes out of – has also a CAP undertone. How do we radically, unconditionally, emBody Freedom? The Earth Awakens – and so can we.

What an opening into 2022 – with the first New Moon of the Year – and after Winter SoUlstice!
The CAP New Year’s New MOON punctuates the big epochal changes of structures & hierarchies that we’ve seen since PLUTO entered CAP (since 2008), esp. in the last 2 years (see above).
We’re on the cusp of a new era – the Zeitgeist shows it clearly.
Astrology shows it via the transition from CAP to AQ (JUPITER & SATURN moved into AQ at Winter Solstice 2020, marking the start of a new 20-year cycle, and PLUTO will enter AQ in 2023 / 24 – huge!). And via a big ‘wash-out’ of PISCES and residues of its era (JUPITER / NEPTUNE in PI aligning there this year will be a ‘fluid’ marker).
The CAP New MOON with PLUTO & VENUS retro is a Powerhouse.
The New MOON meets PLUTO & VENUS retro on Jan 3. The SUN connects with VENUS retro (‘New VENUS’) on Jan 8, and passes PLUTO on Jan 16.
The CAPNew MOON not far from PLUTO & VENUS retro is also a midwife for the transition to AQ.
In the Heart & Core of everything is LOVE – even PLUTO knows…
In the meantime, VENUS & PLUTO are doing some ‘Shadow Dance’ together too – to process hidden stuff, and circle back to Love.
The 3 contacts between VENUS & PLUTO occur, pre-, during and post-retro: Dec 11, 25, and again on March 3, with MARS. The triple connection is epic, and promises to be a game changer.
The unfathomably deep VENUS – PLUTO connection pulls us into dark places, to purge shadow, esp. in relationships & all kinds of attractions, to show us where we (as a person) aren’t in control. And where deeper forces and higher powers of Nature take over, and restore Natural Law & Soul Purpose!
Example: From obsession with ‘success’ as in: higher – better – more perfect (PLUTO in CAP), to a Soul Purpose of being sourced & re-sourced by Peace, Beauty, Harmony (VENUS)… It’s also about Soulful Love, Connecting with our Core, and with the Ancestors.
And it shows that with deep Love all apparently hard core challenges and ‘immovable mountains’ can be met and transmuted (rather than: overcome).
Old relationship patterns have come up with VENUS retro in CAP, esp. re: deservability and priority.
The CAP flavour can show imprints of re-petitive messages / old beliefs like:

The New VENUS (VENUS meets half-way on her retro journey the SUN) on Jan 8at 19º CAP (TAU undertone) guides us to our intrinsic integrity & values– rock-solid, and with joy & passion in our hearts.
PLUTO – super activated by the New Moon – is now in the last third of CAP – with a VIRGO undertone:
We’ve seen serious intensity and death focus, when it comes to health & wellness, work & business / livelihood.
The world of health / integrity and livelihood / lifestyle (VIR / 6th House) of us Humans has drastically changed in 2020 / 21, due to… unnameable and apparently invisible / hidden forces (PLUTO).
Death of humans and businesses – and behind that / (barely covered-up) the death of the outdated & corrupt power / ‘operating’ system / hierarchy / infrastructure.
CAP shadows might come handy: Blame, scapegoating, exploitation, abuse. But hey, been there / done that – same old rabbit hole (says also the South Node now in SCO).

Who are true respected / respect worthy leaders?
How do we honour and respect our Elders?
I won’t go on about it but rather offer transformational end-of-CAP questions – hopefully taking us back to our intrinsic Soul Power (PLUTO) and Integrity (CAP):

How do we work with time and resources, incl. our body in a way that’s sustainable, rather than exploiting it and being (self?)abusive?
How do we truly – and lovingly! – lead by example?
Simple, yet not always easy questions, in our modern ‘matrix’ – which is changing.
Every step in the right direction counts, says the CAP Mountain Goat.
Not just ‘Less is More’ (which is still based on giving higher value to ‘more’), but actually ‘Less is Fulfilling’ says the CAP goat. Carrying (owning and managing) less definitely frees up energies and TIME, not just on the mountain, but in life in general.
CAP, relating to mountains, structures, and hierarchies also asks: “Who’s above, who’s below? Who’s positioned where?” in terms of social hierarchies – leading over to the early AQ themes of social justice.
And since ancestors and historyare also CAP themes, here’s another PLUTO-esque inquiry:
Were your ancestors ‘above’ others, or ‘below’ others? How has that affected your family history and your own psyche?
What has been disempowering about this story, either via guilt, deprivation, disrespect, abuse, etc.?
How is this now, in the hologram of the world you live in, coming up to be transformed?
Inquiring and diving into essence is powerful, says PLUTO in CAP.
SUN / MOON / PLUTO / VENUS retro in CAP remind us that every ‘simple’ action from the spirit of integrity & respect, with LOVE, and aligned with our core and basic mature common sense, contributes energetically, and empowers immediately.
So let’s purge what’s ‘heavy’ & redundant, has outlived its purpose, isn’t in alignment (anymore, with the consciousness of now).
Let’s also purge old ego agendas & hidden control motifs (SN in SCO / PLUTO) – ‘even’ associated with the desire to help others and make the world a better place (end of CAP with VIRGO undertone).
Let’s honour, and work with resources (incl. inner hidden, buried, and unused ones), and re-build in quality consciousness.
How about acknowledging the transformational powers through deep appreciation of how Natural Law and the intelligence of Nature work, and to strengthen & stabilize that awareness?
A ceremony to honour the historic transition from the old to the new consciousness, and invoke universal power (PLUTO) would be very apropos this New Moon.
And / or a personal ceremony related to the area of life where CAP falls in your chart (more about that on the bottom of this article).
LOVE is the best transformational agent (is also what PLUTO quite literally shows…). SOUL POWER is what we’re deeply moved to connect with now.
Alchemist MERCURY contributes too
MERCURY, now very freshly in AQ (as of this eve, Jan 1) will start its retro journey on Jan 14 (until Feb 3) at 10° AQ – only 3° away from SATURN: We the People need to re-connect, communicate & co-create.
MERCURY retro will go back to 24º 23′ CAP, re-tracing its steps to – guess?! – PLUTO! -, and meet the deep, dark, powerful one twice more, on Jan 28 and (post-retro) on Feb 11: Old mental shadows / funk being processed & cleared? Mental Alchemy? Re-empowered mind!
The Super-CAPPY NY New Moon also catalyzes…
The recent shift of the Lunar Nodes from SAG – GEM to SCO – TAU (Dec 23, 2021 – July 13, 2023). Big Time Purge. Back to Nature & to our Senses. EmBodying Freedom. All of this is quite related, as PLUTO & VENUS in CAP, close to the NM, are actually the ruling Planets of SCO (PLUTO) and TAU (VENUS – esp. in Her ‘Morning Star’ quality that She’s going to re-emerge as in mid-Jan, after the retro ‘Underworld’ Journey – where She meets PLUTO). A Transformation from being SO other-oriented, esp. (with CAP) towards apparently ‘unmoving structures’, hierarchies, etc. and where we position ourselves in them / in relation to them, and re-generation from Love & healthy Self Love – a much better, more empowered place to attract from.
Speaking of TAU – the New Moon also plants the seeds for the URANIAN shift from retro (since Aug 19) to direct movement, on Jan 18 – day after the next Full Moon, the CAN – CAP ‘Wolf Moon’ on Jan 17! With the URANUS station, Jan will be quire Uranian. URANUS’s shift from retro to direct calls us to expect the unexpected, be unattached, follow Wake-up calls, and be the Awakeners. The disruptive / collision course / zigzag path that we’ve seen with the triple-squares of SATURN and URANUS in 2021 (last exact alignment on Dec 23) is now easing up – ahhh! The CAP NM on Jan 2 is actually in Earth Trine with URANUS retro / stat. in TAU. Great combo of stabilizing and exciting / liberating / awakening / re-inventive energy.
JUPITER having recently entered PISCES (for most of 2022: Dec 28 – May 10, and Oct 27 – Dec 20). The Big One is now freshly,and for most of the New Year in the last sign of the Zodiac. All about Oneness, Connectedness, Web of Life, Spiritual Gifts, going with the flow & letting go of the old, while raising vibrations. A Big Unification Wave – or chaos! Esp. as JUPITER (ex-ruler of PI) will align with NEPTUNE (ruler of PI) on Apr 12 – which happens every 13 years, but not in PISCES since 1856. THE main alignment of 2022. Re: North Node & URANUS in TAU / South Node in SCO, SATURN & MERCURY in AQ, and JUPITER in PI: The Taurean Inner Buddha Nature sits with what-IS (not to be confused with spiritual by-passing) and holds what comes up with wisdom & compassion.
And an Aquarian ‘Sangha’ (spiritual group) would help to share the processes in synergy and light-spiritedness.
