Brighid’s Blessings for Imbolc!

2 Feb

Now, as the daylight hours are getting obviously longer in our Northern hemisphere, the middle of Winter is soon reached, as well as the midpoint of Aquarius:
Today, Feb 2, we’re celebrating Candlemas, Imbolc / Brigid’s Day and Groundhog Day.

In the Gaelic / Celtic Calendar, Imbolc is one of the 4 fixed Power Points of the Zodiac year!

Celtic Wheel of the Year, with Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lughnassad, Mabon, Samhain.

In many areas of the Celtic world, this was the fire feast of Brighid the Irish goddess of hearth and home. She is the keeper of the flame, the protector of the home, and a goddess of holy wells and springs. At Imbolc, her many aspects are being acknowledged, especially that of her role as a deity of transformation. As the world awakes from the dark slumber of winter, it is time to cast off the chill of the past and welcome the warmth of spring.

Here in Victoria snow drops and even of the first cherry blossom variety have been sighted! And the Earth is greening again.
